- The cell phone radiation comes from the fact that the cell phone is transmitting radio frequencies - the cell phone is connected to an antenna on a tower or a building (which is connected to the cell phone network). Years ago, when all cell phones were analog, they just transmitted at full power all the time. Now that cell phones are digital, the phone can figure out how much power it needs to keep a good connection with the network antenna. Recent studies have shown that the cell phone radiation is not damaging. If you hold the cell phone to your ear all the time, your head is closest to the cell phone's antenna. However, if cell phone radiation is still a concern to you, using a headset will merely move the radiation emitted by the cell phone away from your head to where ever you put the cell phone (most commonly on your waist). The ONLY way to reduce or eliminate ANY impact (real or perceived) of cell phone radiation is to not use a cell phone.
