does a usb headphone and mics sound come from the sound card or the on board sound?
and how can you get your sound and mic to come from the headsets and not one through the headset and other through the mic also if you have stereo head phones why cant you hear out of both ears

- A USB headset acts as a soundcard in it's own right. When I plug it in, it takes over from the system's card (particularly if you set it as the default device, ensuring that as soon as it is present it is used). This all has advantages and disadvantages, honestly - you can be better off connecting a 'regular' headset to a your existing sound card, especially if it is a particularly good one! You also have to bother with selecting the right card for voice recordings. I am sorry, I cannot understand the second part of your question. Problems with one side of a headset usually indicate a cable breakage.
