Can I use a Playstation 2 USB headset with my computer?

I was given a microphone headset for playstation 2 by a friend. I have never used it with my playstation so I don't know if it ever worked on that. I tried to plug it into my computer (because it is USB). It said "usb audio device installed" but I do not hear any sound and the mic does not work. All the lights on the headset are lit up, the mute button appears to work. Are these headsets just not compatible with computers? I would really like to use this one since it has such a long cord and I can move around much more while chatting on my computer. Any help would be appreciated.

1. Absolutely yes. Go to the control panel and check all the settings. The USB mikes are the best, I use one all the time for skype and similar. Got it originally for my speech recognition software.
2. All usb devices are compatible with usb devices. All you need a driver.
